Lots of Activities.

This was our last Discovery Learning for the year.  Next Friday we are going to The playground at Marine Parade for a picnic.  The following Friday is our last day at school so we will be helping the teachers to tidy up.  Room 9 came and joined us.

Crayons and heat.

Mrs Holden, a Teacher Aide, asked her daughter, Joanie, to come to school with a hair dryer.  They helped us to make pictures using crayons, an iron, a grater and a hair dryer.

 

We had lots of fun with the shaving foam.  We squirted it into the trays and then used our hands to mix it and draw pictures.  Somehow or other it ended up right up on our arms and sometimes on our clothes.      Our mums wouldn't know about our clothes because we washed it off and then the sun dried our clothes.  Our clothes smelt nice.

Clay

                        There was a big block of clay.  We had to try and get small bits off it.

Paper.

We had to make something from paper and cards.  We could choose from lots of different types of papers and cards.

Painting

Week4
We had to share the equipment.
We used different things to paint.  Some of the things were bottle tops, bits of sponge, plastic forks and yoghurt containers.

Kindy visit.

Term 4 week 3
This is our first week of Discovery Learning this term as we have had Anniversary Day and we celebrated our school's feast day.
This week the  Frederick Street Kindy children came for a visit and joined in the activities.  The photos show a few of the activities.

Week 11

We used chalk to draw pictures on the concrete.  We had been reading Maori myths and legends.  Some of us drew the sun that Maui and his brothers made go slowly.

Sewing and Climbing Week 10

This week we had to solve lots of problems.  We had to thread a needle with wool and make some stitches.  The teachers watched us as we used ladders and planks to climb the big tree and to get up onto the monkey bars.

Week 9

We had blocks of ice to break.  This was hard to do but we used saws, hammers and screwdrivers.  Some of us tasted the ice.  It was cold.  When we held it, it was slippery.

Week 8

This week was healthy lunch week.  We made fruit kebabs.  They were yummy.

Weeks 7.

   We put the benches and the mats out.  We tried balancing and we tried to do somersaults.  It was a lot of fun.

grandparents Day

The grandparents came and enjoyed themselves.  The children provided a yummy morning tea for them.  The grandparents and the children had great fun at Discovery Learning time solving problems together.

Week4 Puppets

The audience participated in the puppet show by telling the puppets what to do.  The puppets obeyed.

Week 4 huts

We used blankets and sheets to make huts.  Thomas and Lucas got lost in the jungle so had to make a hut.  They also had to make a fire. The girls made a small hut but then had to enlarge it as more children wanted to be in the hut.
