Balloons, Popcorn, Clay and Newspaper.

We had balloons to blow up and had to work out how we could play with them.
Mrs Shaw made popcorn.  If we wanted some we had to make a container to put it in.
We were given newspaper glue and string and had to make something.
We could make what ever we liked out of the clay.

Construction, Foam and Carpentry

Planks of wood, ladders and dismantling things.

At Discovery Learning we used planks of wood and ladders.  We were allowed to climb the ladders and climb onto the big tree.  The teachers watched us and helped us.
We had old tape recorders that we could take apart.  We had to wear goggles to protect our eyes.  There were lots of little bits and pieces inside.

Painting and Making

Today we painted pictures.  The paint was in squirty bottles.  We had to work out how to carefully squirt the paint the paint out.

We had to make pictures out of material and wool.

Making things from containers.

We had to make something from containers.   We made shakers, rollers, something to store ice in and things to store our treasures in.   We gave Millie ideas for what she could use her container construction for.

Breaking Ice

We had to put on goggles to protect our eyes.  We could use hammers, saws and screwdrivers to break up the blocks of ice.  

"It was fun.  The ice jumped off my goggles and landed on my tummy."

 A lot of the ice landed in the shell.  We broke it up into little bits.

Wheels day

It was also wheels day at Discovery Learning time.

Poaching Eggs.

Today we poached eggs.  We had two problems, how to crack the eggs into the pan and how to get the eggs out of the pan.
