Part 2
The plastic bag was emptied of its contents.

We touched them.

We poked them.

We tried to cut them.

What do you think they are?

You can try and cut that one.

George guessed.  They were hearts.  Lamb hearts.
It was heart week at school and rooms 12,14 and 15 had been learning about their hearts.

There was a lot of different paper on the table, different colours, different shapes, different textures.  There were also cards, scissors, glue, staplers, different sorts of sticky tape  ribbon and wire.
We used these things to make something.
We had to plan, in our heads, what we were going to make and then choose what we were going to use and how we were going to join the different bits together.

Welcome to 2013

We have had 2 Discovery Learning sessions.  This term we are focusing on the Key Competency Managing Ourselves.

I wonder what is in the bag?

It felt Gooey.

I don't know what it is.

You have to put your hand right into the bag.

I am touching it.

I have got blood on my fingers.

It feels yucky.

It feels squishy.

Lots of Activities.

This was our last Discovery Learning for the year.  Next Friday we are going to The playground at Marine Parade for a picnic.  The following Friday is our last day at school so we will be helping the teachers to tidy up.  Room 9 came and joined us.

Crayons and heat.

Mrs Holden, a Teacher Aide, asked her daughter, Joanie, to come to school with a hair dryer.  They helped us to make pictures using crayons, an iron, a grater and a hair dryer.

We had lots of fun with the shaving foam.  We squirted it into the trays and then used our hands to mix it and draw pictures.  Somehow or other it ended up right up on our arms and sometimes on our clothes.      Our mums wouldn't know about our clothes because we washed it off and then the sun dried our clothes.  Our clothes smelt nice.

Clay

There was a big block of clay.  We had to try and get small bits off it.
Making a piece of clay flat.
                                                              Rolling out the clay.
A bird nest and some eggs.

Paper.

We had to make something from paper and cards.  We could choose from lots of different types of papers and cards.

Week 11

We used chalk to draw pictures on the concrete.  We had been reading Maori myths and legends.  Some of us drew the sun that Maui and his brothers made go slowly.
